Chuck Austin was accompanied by his wife, Bev, to the meeting on October 8th at which he was presented with the award that now bears his name, formerly known as the Rotary Club of Frederick Fellows. David Markoe introduced his longtime friend and officially presented him with the award.
At our October 8th meeting, Chuck Austin, our longest serving member, Secretary Emeritus, and perfect attendance record holder, was presented with the inaugural Charles S. Austin award in honor of his extraordinary service to The Rotary Club of Frederick and our community.
Similar to a Lifetime Achievement Award, this recognition was formerly known as The Rotary Club of Frederick Fellow award. During Immediate Past President John Molesworth tenure, member Pete Michael suggested that this award be renamed in honor of Chuck.
A committee of past RCF Fellows was convened and a call for nominations was sent to our club’s membership. Members nominated a fellow Rotarian whom they believe embodies the spirit and substance of Rotary.
After discussion and deliberation, the committee voted to approve Chuck himself as the first recipient of the award that bears his name. The Chuck S. Austin award will be given to a deserving Rotarian in similar fashion on an ongoing basis. Congratulations, Chuck!
