Rotary Club of Frederick, Maryland | How

The impact we make in our local and global communities results from a combination of factors: our members’ energy, our mission-driven approach, 100 years of momentum, and significant financial resources:

Members.

Our members understand that we make a living by what we do, but we make a life by what we give. Each of our members has a heart for service and the desire to make the world a better place. They are the engine that drives our club to identify and meet the pressing needs of the world around us.

Mission.

The relationships we build with one another are the foundation of our healthy, productive club, but we are far more than just a networking group or a social club. Service is our mission and our reason for being, but we are known for offering our members a satisfying blend of service, fellowship and fun.

Momentum.

“Service above Self” isn’t just a slogan for us. It’s a promise. One that we have been delivering on for the past 104 years. We examine and adjust our infrastructure regularly, but we have a century of service behind us, constantly motivating us forward to more impactful service.

Resources.

The generosity of our members combined with our excellent fundraising record has given our club deep financial reserves that we use to back up our volunteer efforts:

$1.25 million in five funds managed by the Community Foundation of Frederick County, whose $60,000 in annual proceeds is used to award scholarships, underwrite RCF service projects, fund service partnership grants and more.

Held every March on the Saturday before Saint Patrick’s Day, our annual LepLu fundraiser is a rollicking St. Paddy’s celebration mixed with a splash of South Sea Island fun! Still going strong after 14 years, the profits from our Leprechaun Luau are reinvested into community service projects.

Our members’ generosity to the Rotary International Foundation makes us eligible to apply for grants, which we add to our annual service budget to create greater local and global impact.
