From September through June for the past 50+ years, RCF has been hosting several students and an administrator from at least one area high school each month. One of our most cherished traditions, the Student Guest program gives young people the opportunity to learn about Rotary’s mission and values by talking with club members over lunch, learning about club activities and projects, and hearing a program every week presented by a local professional who is an expert in their field.
Joining our club for the month of April are student guests Hannah Miles and Deven Patel.
Hannah is a senior at Urbana High School, where she has played Varsity basketball and soccer all four years. She has also been a sports leader at the Frederick County YMCA for the last two years, working with a range of ages throughout many different programs at the Y. She will be attending Louisiana State University in the fall.
Deven, also a senior at Urbana High School, is hoping to attend the Eberly College of Science at Penn State to pursue pre-med and molecular science with a minor in Graphic Design. A thoroughly engaged young man, he has participated in nearly 20 clubs and activities and volunteered widely in the community. He was President of the school’s First Robotics Competition Team, the model UN, and is the founder and president of the Urbana Cricket Club.
Welcoming different talented and interesting students from area high schools each month is one of our favorite long-standing traditions!
