From September through June for the past 50+ years, RCF has been hosting several students and an administrator from at least one area high school each month. One of our most cherished traditions, the Student Guest program gives young people the opportunity to learn about Rotary’s mission and values by talking with club members over lunch, learning about club activities and projects, and hearing a program every week presented by a local professional who is an expert in their field.
We are also joined for the month of April by two students from Frederick High School, Travon Neal and Claire Matthews.
A student athlete who plays football and runs track, senior Travon Neal has played football his entire life, but is especially proud to have played for Frederick High School for 4 years. He is a 4-time All County and 2-time All-State player, whose distinguished academic record and outstanding athletic career have earned him a full scholarship to Monmouth University, a D-I school in NJ an hour south of NYC.
Claire Matthews is a graduating senior from FHS and a third year student at the Academy for Fine Arts. She has enjoyed her AP and Dual Enrollment classes through high school, especially Music Therapy. She is an outstanding, highly engaged student who recently received the Community Foundation’s Wertheimer Youth in Action Award for outstanding community service. Claire will study Music Management and Cello Performance at the University of Hartford in CT.
