Empowered to Live’s mission is to empower youth and families to lead purpose-driven lives through programs designed to educate, provide resources, increase economic mobility, strengthen families, and build stronger communities. As a recipient of the Service Partnership Grant, the funds will be used to support their Project GUIDE program. Project GUIDE is a 14-week pre-apprenticeship program that offers youth ages 16-24 job readiness and technical skills training and paid internship opportunities with local businesses in the construction and skilled trades industry.
Project GUIDE consists of eight weeks of classroom instruction and hands-on lab sessions covering some of the following topics: job readiness skills; financial literacy; construction materials; hand and power tools; mechanical skill; OSHA 10; job site clean-up; and construction math and measurements. After completing eight weeks of training, participants will transition into a 6-week internship with a local business in the construction and skilled trades industry. Throughout the duration of the program, participants receive one-on-one career coaching to provide guidance in selecting one of the following career tracks:
