American Red Cross Blood Drive

Giving the Gift of Life

Every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood. Approximately 36,000 units of red blood cells are needed every day in the U.S.

The Red Cross supplies about 40 percent of the nation’s blood supply, providing blood for patients in over 2500 hospitals nationwide. Our club is one of 58,000 blood drive sponsors across the country that the Red Cross depends on to meet the demand for red blood cells, plasma, platelets and other blood products.

Our club hosts the Gift of Life Blood Drive annually at the American Red Cross Frederick Blood Donation Center at 141 Thomas Johnson Drive in Frederick. Many members, their families, friends and office mates give every year, some several times—earning “double red” status. The Rotary Club of Frederick is pleased to join with the Red Cross to provide the gift of life to our community.
