African American Resources-Cultural and Heritage Society

The African American Resources-Cultural and Heritage Society’s mission is to preserve and disseminate the history and culture of African Americans living in Frederick County, Maryland.

AARCH members work to identify, collect, and exhibit artifacts that tell the unique story of African Americans from our area, and travel throughout the region to share first-person and historical accounts. Their work facilitates an understanding of how the past shapes and enriches the present and the future of all citizens. The Rotary Club of Frederick’s Service Partnership Grant will assist AARCH in producing Seeking Common Ground: How Two Congregations Confront a Racist Past. This 20-minute video will document the interaction between two racially different congregations in Frederick to demonstrate how confronting racial injustice leads to dialogue, understanding, and change.
